When you log in, you'll see in the top right corner "Hey, you, you have X messages, X are new." Private messaging gives us a way to communicate with other members without giving out email information. You can, however, set up your preferences to get email notifications of 'PMs' if you so wish. Further, you can set it up to give pop-up notifications of PMs. So if you're on the forum at the same time as someone else, perhaps having a public discussion, and you wish to say something private, you can send a PM. If they get pop-ups, you know they'll read the message faster than they'll get to their email account.

Good question! Sorry I didn't specify.
Get into your private message mailbox by clicking the 'X messages' in the "Hey, You, you have X messages, X are new." Then click the "preferences" icon on the right.
You can block members from sending you messages, turn pop-up notification or and off, and receive email notification of messages.

Well, the last two posts you made were as a guest. This can only be done in the Forum Information section. So anything you did was not in your actual account. I haven't signed in as a guest, only into my account, so not sure what options you had. You need to sign in to your actual 'david' account. If you don't remember the password, the system will email it to you, or an admin can change it for you. Let me know if you still need help.
Once you actually sign in, when you click the 'profile' button across the top it will first show you your profile as it appears to us all. Then you modify it from there.
If I don't see you needing anything else before tomorrow after, you'll need to get William or one of the other members to help you because I'll be in Montreal til next Wednesday.
Love you!

It sounds like new users may still be having trouble with the messaging feature, so here's a quick rundown of how to use it. - The first step, of course, is to log in.
- At the top-right of the screen, you should see "Hey, User, you have x messages", like this:
- Click on the blue part that says "x messages"
- This will take you to your inbox, which will look something like this:
- If you click the subject of a message (in my example, "Re: don't want to tie you up"), you will be taken to that message, like so:
- From here, you can choose to reply using the "Reply" option to the top right. You can also create a new message from scratch either from here or from your inbox. Both replying and creating a new message are similar. In my example, we'll create a new message. Click New Message from the top right of the screen. This is what you'll get:
- The subject, just like in an email, is a brief description of what the message is about.
- The "To" line is the forum user name of the recipient. For instance, if I were sending this to dad, I would just type Larry.
- For the sake of simplicity, I won't try to explain the "Add Tags" and "Add Smilies" boxes. If you've been around a bit, you know what they're for. If not, you don't need to worry about it now. Skip them and type your message in the message box.
- When you're all done, you can choose to run a spell check with the "Spell Check" button at the bottom, or just throw caution to the wind, and click the "Send Personal Message" button at the bottom.
Clearly, there's a lot that I'm not covering in this post, but the point is only to guide new users through the basic process. I think the first point of confusion is usually in finding the inbox, which hopefully this clarifies.
